WSIKF Pins & Patches

Many kite fliers don’t just enjoy flying kites—they also love collecting pins! Breanna Muncrief, director of the World Kite Museum, even calls pins the “kiter economy.” Pin collecting, trading, and designing are traditions found at kite events all over the world.
Each year, special pins are made for festivals. Some are given to attendees, volunteers, or performers. Other times, kite fliers create their own pins to represent their clubs, teams, or companies. Pins are often traded as souvenirs at festivals. They help kite fliers remember their travels and the people they meet. Each pin tells a story and captures a special moment in time.
Many collectors display their pins on hats, jackets, bags, or special boards. These colorful displays show their love for the kiting community and the events they’ve attended.
Pin collecting is more than just a hobby—it brings people together. It helps them celebrate shared experiences and memories. That’s why kite fliers around the world enjoy finding, trading, and collecting these tiny treasures.
