Frequently Asked Questions

pg 63_FAQ.jpg
  • As of 2015 The World Kite Museum has taken over the responsibility of the event from the Long Beach Merchants, together with the City of Long Beach.

  • WSIKF is held every year during the third FULL week in August.

  • Each day’s schedule varies, but generally the festival runs from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm.

Note: All vendors are encouraged to remain open as long as there is foot traffic on the Bolstad beach approach.

*There will be lighted kite flying on Friday night.

**Sunday is considered a “half day”, with events concluding around 3:00 pm. Vendors can start breaking down at 3:00 p.m. but you cannot leave until the approach is open to traffic, which is usually between 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm, when the parking attendants leave. Only vehicles with approved passes will be allowed on approach.

Police try to make a presence on the approach during festival week. If there is a problem, please let us know so we can alert the police.

If you need to contact the police and it is not an emergency, you can call 360.642.2911.

  • Please see the downloadable “Vendor Pricing Sheet” under the WSIKF Kite Festival->Vendors menu for breakdown of fees.

  • 2025 applications are available on our website under the Kite Festival->Vendors menu. Beginning 2026, applications will open January 1st and close the last week of July. Print out, read, complete & sign the application and Code of Conduct. If you do not have access to a computer, you can request an application by calling the World Kite Museum at 360.642.4020 or by mail Vendor Committee C/O WSIKF/PO Box 387/Long Beach, WA 98631.

  • You will need to send in the completed application, signed Code of Conduct, a picture of your booth/trailer and a check for at least $100.00. Mail them to Vendor Committee C/O WSIKF/PO Box 387/Long Beach, WA 98631.

  • We will continue to review applications until space is filled. However, spaces will be assigned on July 25th, so after this, vendors have to fit within the space constraints. The final balance is due no later than Friday, August 15th, 2025.

  • Set up is on the Sunday before the festival begins. The approach is not blocked off until 6:00 a.m. on Sunday. In previous years, vendors have been able to start set up between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. on that Sunday.

  • Arrangements will need to be made with the Vendor Team in advance; however, you will not be allowed to set up during festival hours. If approved for late set up you will need to set up after 6:00 pm or before 9:00 am. YOUR SET UP TIME MUST BE PRE-APPROVED.

  • Yes, there is only one 20-amp electrical hookup per unit, and we do have a few 30/50 amp available. It is critical that you note on your application what your power needs are, as that will determine the placement of your booth. If you are approved with your motorhome and plan to plug your motor home into the provided electrical outlet you will need to run all other electrical needs through your motorhome. If a vendor needs a 50 amp to sell a product, they will take priority.

  • Yes, however, you will need to bring a hose approved for drinking water and not a garden hose.

  • Each vendor is responsible to supply your own garbage can for use by patrons. The City of Long Beach provides their city crew to keep the approach clean of garbage and will keep the community garbage cans empty. However, it is the vendors’ responsibility to keep their space clean and to take their garbage to the dumpsters in the parking lot. All boxes must be broken down and taken to the large dumpster provided in the parking lot.

  • Please check the Washington State Department of Revenue. Information can be found at: https://dor.wa.gov/taxes-rates/sales-use-tax-rates

  • Due to our insurance requirements starting 2008 we started requiring a Certificate of Insurance naming “Washington State International Kite Festival/PO Box 387/Long Beach, WA 98631” as an additional insured or rider to your current policy. Without a certificate of insurance, you will not be able to be a vendor at the festival.

  • This is an outdoor event. The vendors will be located along the Bolstad Approach and the festival activities occur on the beach. Your booth will be either on blacktop or grass. You can only use weights to hold down your tent, no pegs into the blacktop. Remember, we are on the coast of Washington so be prepared for some strong winds and rain. We seem to usually have at least one day of mist or rain. You may want to bring a tarp with you if your tent is not totally waterproof.

  • No, you cannot have a sandwich board past your indicated space. Also, you cannot pass out samples or flyers on the approach. You must stay in your booth area and not impede traffic. (As space is limited and we are required to have enough room for emergency vehicles.)

  • You will be given 2 Vendor Parking Passes in your “Vendor Packet”, mailed to you the last week of July. If you do not receive these passes or you would like to request additional passes, please reach out at vendors@kitefestival.com.

You must display this in the window of your vehicle. The parking attendants will direct you to the vendor parking area. They try to set up an area close to the approach, however, this is a very busy festival and sometimes the parking lot becomes full. There is no overnight camping in the parking lot.

  • Please try to plan ahead for your supplies. If you find a delivery is needed after 9:30 a.m. the city crew or a festival volunteer will try and help you. Check with the parking attendant for help, they will have a radio to contact a festival volunteer. All cars must be off the approach by 9:30 a.m.
